Alexander Roque Drives Through the City with His Deceased Girlfriend

With blood still staining his clothes, Alexander Roque reportedly showed up at the Florida City Police Department to confess that he was traveling with his girlfriend’s corpse in his car and that he allegedly shot her, authorities said.

It was 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 when Homicide detectives began to surround the white Hyundai Tucson driven by Roque, 48.

Still incredulous about the gruesome confession, officers opened the car in the station parking lot and indeed, as Roque had said, there was the lifeless body of a woman in his car, later identified as 44-year-old Yessenia Rodriguez Marquez.

Roque had the victim’s body in the passenger seat, with the alleged murder weapon on the driver’s side floor. The circumstances surrounding the murder are unclear, but authorities stated they had two key witnesses to begin a legal process against Roque for second-degree murder.

Minutes before Roque arrived at the Police Department, a 911 call was made for a woman in danger. The caller was Roque’s cousin, one of the two people he had allegedly contacted after the shooting, according to the official report.

The second witness was the victim’s ex-husband, to whom Roque reportedly made a WhatsApp video call to show him how he had killed his ex-partner.

Upon the discovery of the body, detectives informed Roque that he was under arrest and prepared his police report that same night, indicating he would be presented to court for second-degree murder.

The victim was taken to the forensic office, and as of now, no statement has been issued regarding the cause of Yessenia Rodriguez Marquez’s death.

The romantic relationship between Rodriguez and her alleged killer remains a mystery, with no family members or case detectives willing to comment on the matter.

As authorities work to gather evidence and shed light on the tragic event, Roque has been transferred to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County. He will be facing a second-degree murder charge and was denied bail by the judge during his court appearance on Monday morning.

Roque will await his next court date to determine if he will be granted parole or remain in custody for the duration of the investigation. Any individuals with information about the murder are urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477, as even the smallest detail could make a difference in seeking justice for the victim.
