Arsenal has yet to demonstrate consistent performance in the early matches of the 2023/24 English Premier League.

Arsenal has yet to demonstrate consistent performance in the early matches of the 2023/24 English Premier League. The team that finished second in the 2022/23 season has recorded two wins and one draw. However, the performance exhibited by the North London team has not reached the expected level of consistency.

The Gunners secured a narrow 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest. Later, they won 1-0 against Crystal Palace but had to finish the match with ten players. In a match against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal was held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham. The home team couldn’t secure a win despite having a player advantage for part of the game.

The decision made by Mikel Arteta to use Thomas Partey as a right-back while his team had possession of the ball has garnered negative attention. Gary Neville, an analyst from Sky Sports, advised Arteta to stop this experiment.

“Looking at Arsenal, there is an experimental aspect within the team, using Thomas Partey as both a right-back and midfielder. Sometimes, it’s better to return to simpler performances and plans. I think Mikel Arteta will stop this experiment when facing Manchester United.”

“Arsenal can revert to a more ideal team setup. Innovation is enjoyable, but team balance is a more crucial aspect. I’m glad to see attempts to explore new approaches, but sometimes those ideas can’t be effectively utilized,” Gary Neville stated, as quoted from Sky Sports.

Gary Neville emphasized that displaying consistent performance is crucial when playing away matches. He highlighted the inconsistency shown by Manchester United as well. However, the Red Devils are believed to achieve positive results at the Emirates Stadium if the home team doesn’t exhibit the expected consistency.

Premier League club Arsenal seems to be parting ways with Rob Holding. The defender is reportedly set to continue his career in Spain in the near future.

Arsenal recently parted ways with Kieran Tierney. The defender decided to leave North London after not getting regular playing time with Arsenal.

The defender chose to move to Spain. He has officially joined Real Sociedad on a loan deal.

Tierney is not the only Arsenal player set to move to Spain. Fabrizio Romano reported that Rob Holding will soon follow Tierney to the land of the Matador.

According to Romano, Holding has made up his mind to leave Arsenal this summer.

The defender has had limited playing time during Mikel Arteta’s era. As a result, he feels that this situation isn’t conducive to his career development.

He has asked his agent to find a new club that can provide him with regular playing time.

Romano mentioned that Holding is currently inclined to continue his career in La Liga, Spain.

Two La Liga clubs are interested in his services. They are Real Mallorca and Sevilla, both of which are reportedly eager to acquire his services.

Negotiations are currently ongoing. Holding hopes to reach an agreement so that he can leave Arsenal.

Holding’s contract with Arsenal is set to expire in 2024. Consequently, Arsenal is not asking for an excessively high fee for the 27-year-old player.

Holding is rumored to be available for a fee of just €10 million this summer.

Rice has repeatedly shown his displeasure with Havertz’s playing style, which has caused difficulties for Arsenal.

Arsenal’s newcomer, Kai Havertz, once again seemed to struggle when facing Fulham on matchday 3 of the English Premier League last weekend, with another new Gunners player, Declan Rice, expressing frustration with the German star in front of the fans.

Havertz, who was brought in from Chelsea this summer, started the game against Marco Silva’s side and initially seemed lively in Arsenal’s four-attacker scheme. However, it didn’t last long as he squandered several important chances.

The former Bayer Leverkusen player received the ball in Fulham’s midfield, where there was ample room to turn and take the ball into the final third. However, he inexplicably passed the ball first-time to Rice, who couldn’t reach the pass.

Rice had previously displayed similar frustration when Havertz wasted a close-range opportunity after a cross from Bukayo Saka. This was one of several missed chances by The Gunners, who should have ended the game with three points.

Goals from Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah helped Mikel Arteta’s side turn the game around to 2-1, with Fulham’s center-back Calvin Bassey receiving a red card. Despite playing with 10 players, Fulham managed to equalize through Joao Palhinha.

This draw means Arsenal missed the chance to climb to the top of the league table and put maximum pressure on Manchester City.

Regardless of Havertz’s performance, Arteta claimed not to be overly concerned. According to him, Havertz will eventually win over the fans’ hearts.

“I’m not worried. I saw a moment when he played the ball backward and he should have turned. Beyond that, I think it’s all players’ demand to play forward and influence the game in the final third, because we have an urgency to win,” he explained.

“Yes, I think so [Havertz can win over the fans]. I assess that he has done some good things. Today, there were difficulties at certain moments [for Havertz]. He’s great in certain areas and the ball didn’t come. In many situations, he should have scored many goals this season. That’s what’s missing from him,” he concluded.

In Premier League news: Manchester United legend Gary Neville has reminded the Red Devils that they must not display subpar performance in their match against Arsenal. Erik ten Hag’s team will face the Gunners at the Emirates in early September.

Manchester United has had a difficult start to the 2023/24 Premier League season. They suffered a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on August 19. While they managed to secure two wins against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest, their overall performance has been poor.

Gary Neville believes that Manchester United’s next game against Arsenal will be a tough test for them. He also stated that United’s performance this season has not met expectations, so to beat the Gunners, players like Marcus Rashford will have to perform exceptionally well.

Manchester United is decent on the counter-attack, but this is a very tough test for them. Their performances this season have been below standard. If you perform below standard at the Emirates, you’ll lose. United needs to rise and improve their game, but Arsenal also needs to work on themselves,” Neville stated to Sky Sports.

Currently, the Red Devils are in eighth place in the Premier League standings, trailing the top four by one point after three matches.

On the other hand, under Ten Hag’s leadership, the team finished third in the 2022/23 season, four points ahead of fourth-placed Newcastle United, displaying exceptional performance. They secured 23 wins out of 38 league matches.
