Brentford Enters Contention for PSG’s Ekitiké as Transfer Battle Heats Up

Paris Saint-Germain’s young forward, Hugo Ekitiké, finds himself at the center of a fierce transfer race involving various European clubs, and Brentford is positioning itself as a contender.

The 21yearold Ekitiké has garnered attention from multiple teams during the current transfer window. Reports indicate that he might be available, potentially through a loan arrangement, pending the specifics of the deal. Among the interested parties, West Ham has emerged as a potential suitor, eyeing the France Under20 international as potential backup for Michail Antonio.

Sources suggest that Brentford has been actively pursuing Ekitiké, aiming to strengthen their attacking options under the leadership of Thomas Frank, with the impending transfer window deadline on the horizon.

In line with recent reporting by Telegraph Sport, Brentford revisited their pursuit of Nottingham Forest’s forward, Brennan Johnson, after earlier bids for the Welsh international were turned down earlier in the window.

Ekitiké shares similarities with Johnson, possessing notable speed that had drawn the interest of Champions League clubs when he burst onto the scene at Reims two seasons ago. Notably, Newcastle United was also involved in negotiations for Ekitiké during that time. However, PSG ultimately secured his services, initially on loan, which eventually led to a permanent transfer worth €35 million.

Andy Carroll’s Surprising Move to Amiens SC

Former England striker, Andy Carroll, is on the brink of a surprising transfer to French club Amiens SC, as he has journeyed to finalize terms for his move to the Ligue 2 side.

The 34-year-old had been with Reading during the previous season, where he managed to net nine goals across 30 Championship appearances. Unfortunately, his efforts couldn’t prevent Reading’s relegation to League One, a fate that has seen Ruben Selles select him just twice this campaign.

An unexpected opportunity in France arose at the beginning of the week, potentially propelling Carroll to contribute to Amiens’ promotion campaign to return to the top flight, a status they last held in the 2019/20 season.

Carroll’s illustrious career, which featured a notable £35 million transfer to Liverpool and a successful spell with West Ham, hasn’t involved playing abroad until now. His Reading tenure marked his second stint with the club, the first being a short-term move two seasons ago during a period when he also represented West Brom. With his contract at Reading set to expire, the Madejski Stadium has given him the green light to embark on this new adventure.

Luton Expresses Interest in Manchester United’s Mengi

Luton Town’s manager, Rob Edwards, has set his sights on Manchester United’s center-back, Teden Mengi, as he seeks to bolster his defense before the transfer deadline.

At 21, Mengi brings with him previous loan experiences at Derby and Birmingham. Manchester United is open to facilitating a move that offers him a chance for consistent first-team action.

Notably, Axel Tuanzebe, a former United player, has been training with Luton as he searches for his next club. This situation presents an interesting overlap, as Tuanzebe also operates in the center-back role, a priority position for Edwards in the current market.
