Bridgerton Season 3 Premiere Dates Finally Revealed

No need to rely on Lady Whistledown for the details of Bridgerton’s season three premiere dates. Netflix and Shondaland have recently unveiled that the show will return in 2024, presented in two segments.

Dear reader,

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the release date for Bridgerton season three, your wait is over. Netflix and Shondaland have disclosed that the period drama will make a comeback in two parts—each comprising four episodes—next year. The initial half is set to release on May 16, followed by the second part premiering on June 13.

This time around, it’s #Polin season. Yes, the third season of the series—inspired by Julia Quinn’s novels chronicling the lives and romantic endeavors of the Bridgerton family during England’s Regency era—will predominantly focus on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

Despite Penelope harboring feelings for her friend Colin for a considerable time, she relinquished the hope of a relationship after overhearing him tell his friends at the Featherington Ball in season two that he would “never dream of courting” her. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean she’s closed off to finding love entirely.

As stated in a Netflix synopsis, Penelope aims to find a husband in this season but lacks confidence. When Colin returns from his summer voyages and notices Penelope maintaining her distance, the summary suggests that he offers assistance in her quest to find ‘the one’ and bolster her self-assurance. Yet, could their friendship evolve into something deeper?

It seems highly probable.

“It’s going to be tantalizing,” remarked Bridgerton co-star Jonathan Bailey to E! News in November. “It’s going to be good. And also, my brother Luke Newton is bringing the heat with Nicola. So it’s going to be great.”

However, Nicola has expressed her desire that Penelope—a.k.a Lady Whistledown—demonstrates more self-love this season too.

“I think she has Colin on such a pedestal, and she thinks he’s perfect. And he’s not,” the actress conveyed to E! in May 2022. “He’s just a human being. So, she needs to just stop thinking he’s perfect and appreciate yourself more. I think it’s like that old adage like, ‘If you don’t love yourself, how are you gonna love anybody else?’ Like she’s got to love herself first.”

A Longing Look Penelope is “grown up” now, Nicola shared in June 2023, adding it was “definitely different this time around” as all eyes are on her journey from Lady Whistledown to leading lady.

Day Dreaming—or Plotting The actress has known for a while that she’ll be the focus.

“I’ve known for, like, two weeks into filming season two, so I had a lot of time to adjust to it,” she told E! News’ Justin Sylvester and Loni Love in May 2022. “But then, you know, last night when they were like, ‘The news is coming out. You can talk about it,’ I was like, ‘I don’t want to. I’m too scared.’ When I say it out, it makes it real.”
