Chelsea will be looking to avoid a fifth-consecutive Premier League defeat against rivals Arsenal on Saturday when the Blues host the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.

In the 2023/2024 Premier League matchweek 9, two London teams, Chelsea and Arsenal, will face each other, both in good form after securing victories in their last two matches.

Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, is reluctant to talk about his team’s chances of winning the EPL 2023/2024. He says it’s too early to say if his team will win the Premier League this season.

Since last season, Arsenal has shown significant progress. They have been able to compete with Manchester City for the EPL title.

After failing to win the title last season, Arsenal started the 2023/2024 season impressively. The Gunners remain undefeated until the eighth week of the EPL.

Even though his team is performing exceptionally well, Arteta is cautious about discussing their chances of winning. “Honestly, I don’t know who will be competing for the title this season,” Arteta said on Arsenal’s official website.

Arteta doesn’t want to boast that his team will become champions, but he is determined to end Arsenal’s EPL title drought. “One thing is for sure, we want to be in the title race. I also know that we have to be at our best if we want to be in that position,” Arteta continued.

“This league is very competitive. There are significant challenges in every game, so I believe the competition for the title is still wide open.”

Furthermore, Arteta believes that his team is getting more prepared to compete for the EPL title in the 2023/2024 season.

He sees an evolution within his team, not just in this season but since last season. He believes that there has been significant change within the team and is confident that they can get even better,” added the coach.

Arsenal faces a big match in matchweek nine of the 2023/2024 EPL. The Gunners will visit Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea tonight.

Arsenal has consistently secured victories in their last three visits to Chelsea’s home ground. Arsenal’s superiority will be tested again when they visit Stamford Bridge in matchweek nine of the English Premier League on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

These three victories complement Arsenal’s unbeaten record when playing in different parts of London. In Chelsea’s home ground, the West London club, Arsenal has remained undefeated in their last four encounters. This record enhances Arsenal’s impressive statistics every time they face Chelsea.

The North London club has won six of their last seven clashes with The Blues in all competitions. This victory record is the same as Arsenal’s number of victories in the previous 25 meetings with Chelsea.

This record once again makes The Gunners favorites to bring home all three points from Stamford Bridge this season. Moreover, Arsenal needs additional points to take over the top of the current Premier League standings from Tottenham Hotspur.

Defensive solidity is one of the keys to Arsenal’s success in competing for the top position in the current Premier League standings. Alongside Manchester City, Arsenal is the team with the best defense, having conceded only six goals in eight matches.

Arsenal has also been far better than City in terms of clean sheet records. The Gunners have the most clean sheets in the Premier League after ending four games without conceding any goals.

However, ahead of their visit to Stamford Bridge, Arsenal may have to play without a key player in the defense line. French central defender, William Saliba, is doubtful to appear in this match due to an ankle injury.

Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, is likely to pair Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White in the heart of the defense for this match.

Arsenal’s defender, Ben White, expressed his strong desire to sign a new contract with the club, as he hopes to stay for as long as possible.

Ben White still has nearly three years left on his contract with Arsenal, but last month, it was reported that the North London club was ready to begin talks about extending his contract as a reward for his good performances.

The 26-year-old player joined Arsenal from Brighton in 2021 and has made 95 appearances for the club. He has played every minute in the Premier League for the Gunners this season and has scored one goal, in the 4-0 victory over Bournemouth at the end of September.

When asked if he wanted to extend his contract, he told Sky Sports: “Yes, of course. I want to stay at Arsenal for as long as I can, stay at the highest level, and push this club back to where it should be. Whenever it’s discussed, it feels great to have someone who wants you. My current contract still has several years to go, so talking about it is already a pleasant thing.”

The defender is likely to remain a mainstay for Mikel Arteta when Arsenal faces Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the ongoing Premier League, on Saturday, October 21, in the evening (WIB).
