Chris Eubank Jr. Delivers Redemption with Spectacular Victory Over Liam Smith in Thrilling Rematch

In an electrifying rematch, Chris Eubank Jr. emerged victorious against his British rival, Liam Smith, in the 10th round at the AO Arena in Manchester. Eubank avenged his previous loss to Smith in January, where he was defeated in the fourth round.

Smith, hailing from Liverpool, faced two knockdowns before the referee intervened to prevent further punishment.

Eubank exhibited a dazzling performance right from the start, securing his 34th professional career win. He first sent Smith to the canvas in the fourth round and repeated the feat in the 10th.

Speaking in the ring after the fight, Eubank expressed his determination to secure the win, saying, “I had no other choice but to beat Smith. There are too many other big fights out there for me that the fans want to see, that I want to be involved in.”

He continued, “I had to beat Liam tonight. Liam is a warrior. I respect him, his team, his family, and his brothers. They always come out and put it all on the line. He fought until the last second, so big up to Liam and his team.”

Eubank emphasized his dedication to the sport, saying, “I trained hard for that fight, I trained hard for this fight. The focus is always there. I dedicate my life to this sport. Now we’re onto bigger and better fights. There’s some big names out there. I see a few of these guys in the crowd. I’m coming for you.”

The rematch had been rescheduled twice earlier in the summer, first from June and then from July. The fight certainly lived up to expectations as Eubank showed remarkable control and aggression, eventually securing the win.

Eubank initiated his control in the second round, effectively using his jab. In the third round, he connected with a fierce uppercut that sent Smith to the canvas for the first time. Smith was granted an extended 30 seconds to recover after spitting out his mouthguard, which sparked controversy.

The fifth round saw Eubank relentlessly pressing forward, inflicting further punishment on Smith as he aimed to seal the fight.

Throughout the match, Eubank showcased controlled aggression while Smith, who struggled with an ankle issue, found himself on the receiving end of powerful head and body shots.

In the seventh round, Smith was visibly hurt by Eubank’s punches. Despite a deep cut above his right eye, Smith continued to fight gallantly.

However, in the 10th round, Smith was sent sprawling to the canvas for the second time. Although he bravely continued, the referee decided to stop the fight, declaring Eubank the winner.

Smith, reflecting on his defeat, stated, “Everything from start to finish went wrong. I was just flat from the start. Chris was sharp. That’s all I can say about it really. I shout when I win, I take my defeats when I lose.”

Eubank’s impressive victory marks a significant moment in his career, and he now sets his sights on even bigger challenges in the world of boxing.
