De’Zie Jones explains his decision to commit to Ohio State

Ohio State University Football Program Lands Three New Commits During Recruiting Weekend

In a successful recruiting weekend in Columbus, Ohio State University has secured commitments from three talented high school prospects. De’Zie Jones from Wayne, New Jersey’s De Paul Catholic has officially committed to Ohio State, joining Rivals250 linebacker Tarvos Alford and Rivals250 defensive end London Merritt, who committed on Friday.

Jones, a standout slot receiver known for his explosiveness and playmaking ability, expressed his excitement about joining the Buckeyes. “They produce good wide receivers so if I want to be around good receivers and good defensive backs, this is the place for me,” Jones said. “They put a lot of guys into the league.”

The talented prospect also spoke highly of Ohio State’s wide receivers coach, saying, “Coach Hartline, he’s just a cool dude. He really knows what he’s doing. I don’t have to worry about him leaving.” Jones added, “It didn’t look too much out of my range. Everybody was built like me and it seemed like a place I could learn more at.”

Standing out for his ability to gain yards after the catch and his solid physical build, Jones is expected to make a significant impact on the field for the Buckeyes. Despite his smaller stature, Jones is confident in his ability to hold his own against physical defenders at the collegiate level. As the first wide receiver to commit to Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class, Jones adds depth and talent to a roster that currently ranks No. 3 overall in the Rivals Team Recruiting Rankings.

Ohio State’s successful recruiting weekend has bolstered the team’s prospects for the future, with the addition of three talented prospects who are poised to make significant contributions on the field. As the Buckeyes continue to build a strong recruiting class, fans can look forward to a bright future for the football program.
