DWTS’ Julianne Hough Shares Message After Derek Hough’s Wife Hayley Erbert Undergoes Skull Surgery

Julianne Hough, cohost of DWTS, spoke up following her sister-in-law Hayley Erbert’s emergency surgery on her skull due to a burst blood vessel. Hayley Erbert married Derek Hough in August.

Julianne Hough expressed her love and concern. The cohost of Dancing With the Stars responded after her brother Derek Hough revealed on December 7 that his wife, Hayley Erbert, had emergency surgery on her skull.

“On the same day,” Julianne wrote on her Instagram Story, “Please pray and send all your love, healing, and light to Hayley and Derek.”

The professional dancer also conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Hough family for the overwhelming support they’ve received. She added, “Thank you from the depths of our family’s hearts!”

After Derek and Hayley’s performance on the Symphony of Dance tour in Washington, D.C. on December 6, Hayley became “disoriented” and was taken to a local hospital, as Derek described on Instagram.

She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma—a blood collection within the skull—caused by a burst blood vessel. The condition “necessitated an emergency craniectomy,” according to the DWTS judge. “She is in stable condition.”

This procedure typically involves the removal of a part of the skull to alleviate pressure on the brain.

“I want to express gratitude to the first responders and medical staff who have been caring for her and continue to do so,” Derek added. “I request your prayers and positive thoughts during this time.”

The dance community rallied in support, with Allison Holker from So You Think You Can Dance saying, “I am sending all of my love, healing, and prayers!”

DWTS alum Alyson Hannigan wrote, “Sending all my love and energy for a speedy recovery!!!” While the show’s cohost Alfonso Ribeiro mentioned, “Sending you all the love I have in my soul. Prayers for a speedy recovery.”

Derek and Hayley, who met during Julianne’s tour in 2014, exchanged vows in August during a private ceremony in a redwood forest in Monterey County, California.
