The Latin Recording Academy® recently announced the honorees for its 2023 Leading Ladies of Entertainment program. This program, created 7 years ago, aims to recognize socially conscious professional women in the Latino arts and entertainment industry. The four women being celebrated this year are Róndine Alcalá, Mon Laferte, Simone Torres, and Ana Villacorta López. These women have made significant contributions to their fields and have inspired the next generation of leaders.

The celebration will take place on November 13th in Seville, Spain, as part of the main events of the Week of the Latin GRAMMY®. Manuel Abud, the CEO of The Latin Recording Academy, expressed his pride in honoring these women in a press release, stating, “We are proud to celebrate them with this and other initiatives that seek to promote gender parity and honor the important role women play in the entertainment industry.”

In addition to the honorees, the Academy also announced that applications for the third annual Leading Ladies Connect TogetHER mentoring program are now open. This mentoring program, a core pillar of the Leading Ladies of Entertainment program, focuses on paying it forward and forging opportunities for future generations. It has partnered with She Is The Music, a global nonprofit working to increase the number of women in music, and the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation to provide collaborative mentorship opportunities.

Honorees from previous Leading Ladies programs will have the opportunity to mentor trainees from She Is The Music, further supporting the mission of increasing female representation in the industry. The application period for the program ends on September 29th, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time). Those interested can apply and learn about the guidelines by visiting the Latin Recording Academy’s website.
