Michael Cole, President and CEO of Hyundai UK, recently shared this ambitious plan in an exclusive interview with Top Gear. He emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to transforming the concept of flying cars into a reality.
Hyundai first introduced the world to its awe-inspiring flying car concept, Urban Air Mobility, during the prestigious Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas back in 2020, according to reports from Carbuzz.
In its pursuit of airborne innovation, Hyundai is focusing on short-range Urban Air Mobility solutions powered by electricity, while utilizing hydrogen for long-distance cargo transportation.
To bring this vision to life, Hyundai has forged a partnership with none other than Rolls-Royce, renowned for its engineering prowess, to supply the cutting-edge engines that will propel these flying cars into the skies.
“While the realization of flying cars may not be imminent, we firmly believe that they will become an integral part of our future mobility solutions,” Cole shared enthusiastically.
In a strategic move last year, Hyundai joined forces with the startup Supernal, which received significant backing from the automotive giant. Together, they unveiled an impressive concept for a flying car that Hyundai intends to leverage.
Designed to accommodate up to five passengers and operate autonomously, Hyundai’s flying car promises a remarkable blend of safety and lightweight construction.
