In 2024, the price and specs of the Kia Picanto have been updated to offer more features, but are no longer available for under $20,000.

The 2024 Kia Picanto has been released and features a new look, updated safety features, and a higher price point. The updated vehicle has seen price increases of up to $2,100, pushing it out of the sub-$20,000 drive-away category and giving the title of Australia’s cheapest new car to the MG 3. With these changes, the 2024 Kia Picanto is now priced at $20,690.

The base model of the Picanto has been rebranded from S to Sport, reflecting its enhanced standard equipment. Features such as lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention alert are now included as standard. Additionally, the vehicle’s exterior has been updated to sport an EV9-inspired look, complete with standard alloy wheels.

The range-topping Picanto GT, which was previously equipped with a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, has been removed due to low demand. The turbo version accounted for only five to seven percent of sales for the previous range, making it a logical decision to discontinue the model.

New features in the 2024 Picanto include LED headlights and taillights, a flat-bottom sport steering wheel, heated side mirrors, and wheel trim accents. The vehicle’s fuel economy has also been updated, with a claimed increase to 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers for manual variants and 6.0 liters per 100 kilometers for automatics.

Standard colors for the Picanto include Light White, Bright Silver, Astro Gray, and Aurora Black Pearl, among others. All models come with a seven-year/unlimited-kilometer warranty, as well as seven years of roadside assistance and capped-price servicing.

Despite the price increases and updated features, three of the four available Picanto models are still priced at less than $20,000 before on-road costs. However, the MG 3 is now the most affordable new car available for under $20,000 to drive away.

The 2024 Kia Picanto is now available for purchase in Australia, with the following price points:

– Picanto Sport manual: $17,890 plus on-road costs or $20,690 for vehicles
– Picanto Sport auto: $19,490 plus on-road costs or $21,690 for vehicles
– Picanto GT-Line manual: $19,690 plus on-road costs or $22,490 for vehicles
– Picanto GT-Line auto: $21,290 plus on-road costs or $23,490 for vehicles

In terms of standard features, the Picanto Sport includes 14-inch alloy wheels (previously 14-inch steel wheels with hubcaps), halogen projector headlights, digitized speed and RPM readouts, leatherette-look steering wheel and shift knob trim, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and more.

For the Picanto GT-Line, additional features include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED reflector headlights, full-width LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, synthetic leather seat upholstery with gray details, a flat bottom sports steering wheel, heated side mirrors, and glossy black interior details.
