Joe Jonas States His Marriage to Sophie Turner is “Irreparably Broken”

Joe Jonas filed for divorce from his wife of four years, Sophie Turner, on September 5, citing their marriage with the Game of Thrones star as “irreparably broken.” Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are no longer a couple in love.

The Jonas Brothers singer filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones star in Florida on September 5, as stated in court documents obtained by E! News.

The petition notes that Joe and Sophie’s two daughters, 3-year-old Willa and a 14-month-old baby girl (identified in the documents by the initials D.J.), have been residing with the singer at his Miami residence and other locations in the United States.

Regarding the former couple’s custody arrangement for their daughters, the documents state that “it is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.” Furthermore, the petition also requested the establishment of a “timesharing schedule providing for frequent and continuing contact with both parties” and the “child support obligation of each party.”

Joe, 34, and Sophie, 27, who were married for four years before their separation, have a valid prenuptial agreement in place, according to the petition.

E! News reached out to Joe and Sophie’s representatives for comment and has not received a response.

Joe’s filing comes days after rumors began circulating that the couple, who tied the knot in May 2019, were heading towards divorce.

While neither the “Cake by the Ocean” singer nor the Revenge actress have publicly commented on their split, Joe shared a photo from his Labor Day weekend celebrations in which his wedding ring is prominently featured.

“Happy Labor Day weekend everyone,” Joe wrote alongside a photo with Kevin and Nick Jonas. “This tour has been incredible so far! Having a little family time in the Texas sunset tonight before a big show in Austin tomorrow.”

And just last month, Sophie celebrated Joe’s 34th birthday on August 15 with a photo of themselves wearing matching pajamas, writing, “Happy birthday handsome.” She also supported Joe at the Jonas Brothers’ New York City shows at Yankee Stadium as they kicked off their world tour.

The couple often kept details about their relationship away from the public eye, with Joe explaining to Mr. Porter in November 2022 that he found it challenging to be an open book.

“But when we started dating, I realized that I didn’t have a ton of stuff that was just for me,” he said. “And in the end, it makes me a better person to have something for myself.”

However, Sophie jokingly provided insight into their different lifestyles during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Everything seems to be working out in my favor because Joe’s a real social butterfly, so I struggle to kind of lock him down and have him just spend time with me,” she quipped to Conan O’Brien on Conan at Home in March 2020. “So it’s like a prison for him, but it’s great for me.”
