Manchester United Halts Marc Cucurella Transfer Process.

Manchester United Halts Marc Cucurella Transfer Process. One Trivial Issue Leads to the Failure of This Transfer.

Cucurella was once the leading candidate for Manchester United’s left-back position. Chelsea had given the green light for Manchester United to acquire the player.

At the same time, Cucurella was interested in moving. The recovery of Ben Chilwell and the abundance of backup players in the same position posed a threat to his playing time.

While joining Manchester United, Cucurella would temporarily become the first-choice option while waiting for Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia to recover from their injuries.

The situation of Cucurella’s transfer to Manchester United initially indicated success. However, journalist David Ornstein released a surprising report.

In his report, it was explained that the transfer process for Cucurella had entered a difficult stage and could potentially collapse.

The cause was trivial. Cucurella played for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup during the second round. The 25-year-old player started in the match against AFC Wimbledon.

Chelsea’s decision to play Cucurella could become a problem for Manchester United in the future. This is because the player is now unable to play for Manchester United in the Carabao Cup 2023.

The existing regulations state that a player is prohibited from playing for two different clubs in the same season in the English Cup.

This is detrimental to Manchester United. If the transfer goes through, Cucurella won’t be able to play in the third round, which is planned for late September 2023.

However, in the same report, Manchester United finally decided to switch to an alternative player. It’s Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.

The option of recruiting Reguilon will be similar to Cucurella’s. The player will be loaned for one season without a purchase option.

Chelsea struggled to eliminate Wimbledon in the 2023/2024 Carabao Cup. Manager Mauricio Pochettino was not surprised that The Blues faced difficulties.

Chelsea hosted Wimbledon in the Second Round match held at Stamford Bridge on Thursday (31/8/2023) early morning WIB. Several reserve players were fielded in this match.

Without key players, Chelsea did face difficulties at the beginning of the match against the spirited play of Wimbledon. The away team even took the lead through a penalty by James Tiley in the 19th minute due to a foul by Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea only managed to equalize with a penalty by Noni Madueke in injury time of the first half. In the second half, Chelsea introduced some of their star players such as Enzo Fernandez, Nicolas Jackson, and Moises Caicedo.

Chelsea secured a victory after Enzo scored a goal against Wimbledon in the 72nd minute. The score of 2-1 remained until the end of the match, and Chelsea advanced to the Third Round of the tournament, also known as the English League Cup.

Despite the victory, Chelsea’s performance was highlighted in the match, considering they should have progressed easily. Instead of doing so, Chelsea fell behind first.

Even though Chelsea dominated with 83.9 percent ball possession and 23 attempts, nine of which were on target.

“It was indeed a tough match. This is the beauty of the Carabao Cup. You have a good squad and great players on the bench. They are fresher and eventually played to accomplish our mission,” Pochettino said, as quoted by Daily Mail.

Chelsea will face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Third Round of the Carabao Cup on September 25th.
