Milena Sanchez bids farewell to The Receipts Podcast after seven years

Milena Sanchez, one of the three popular hosts of The Receipts Podcast, has announced her departure from the show after seven years.

Sanchez made the announcement on social media, describing it as a “difficult decision” but one that she believes is “best for me.”

The podcast, which signed an exclusive deal with Spotify in 2019, is led by Audrey Indome and Tolani Shoneye.

The British trio is known for their unfiltered conversations on a wide range of topics.

Sanchez stated that she made this decision after “careful consideration” and expressed her gratitude for the love and support she has received over the years, noting that the listeners will always hold a special place in her heart.

Covering topics from relationships to race, religion, and everyday life, the three hosts of The Receipts often invite guests to join them and answer listener questions.

According to Spotify, the show attracts over 100,000 listeners weekly across 71 countries.

It began as an independent project before being picked up by BBC Radio 1Xtra and later by the streaming service Spotify.

In a 2021 interview with Vice, they described themselves as “three girls willing to talk about anything.”

They initially created the podcast as a space for Black women after identifying a gap in the market.

“It’s like a group chat, blown up,” said Shoneye, also known as Tolly.

“I wanted to create a space for myself and other Black women, particularly. Women don’t have many spaces of our own outside of the ladies’ room.”

Sanchez, who is also a singer-songwriter, mentioned that the podcast will continue, adding, “I genuinely wish Audrey and Tolly the very best.”

“Creating the show with them has been a truly life-changing experience,” she added.

In an Instagram post on The Receipts’ account, Indome and Shoneye described their time working together as an “incredible journey” and announced that they will return with new podcast episodes in 2024, as Indome is currently on maternity leave.

The group has also released books and hosted live podcast events, and they have appeared as guest stars on ITV2’s “Don’t Hate the Playaz” and BBC 3’s “The Rap Game.”
