Sebastian Stan to Portray Donald Trump in New Film ‘The Apprentice’

Sebastian Stan is set to take on the role of controversial business tycoon turned inflammatory president Donald Trump in the upcoming film, The Apprentice. Directed by Ali Abbasi, known for his work on The Last of Us, the film promises to delve into Trump’s early years in business and real estate.

The first official look at the film was released on Thursday, showcasing Stan as Trump, depicted as being on the phone in the back of a car alongside lawyer Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong of Succession. Maria Bakalova will also star in the film as Ivana Trump, Trump’s first wife.

The Apprentice is described as an exploration of power and ambition in a world filled with corruption and deceit. It aims to tell a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of an American dynasty, highlighting the moral and human costs of a culture defined by winners and losers.

This announcement comes at a time when Trump is currently embroiled in multiple legal battles. The former president is facing a staggering 91 criminal charges in four different courtrooms. In New York, he is accused of falsifying business records, while in Washington, D.C., and Georgia, he faces allegations of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election.

Additionally, Trump is facing a federal trial in Florida after being indicted on 40 felony counts related to the mishandling of classified documents following his presidency. His personal aide, Walt Nauta, and Mar-a-Lago maintenance chief, Carlos De Oliveira, are also implicated in the case. All three have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Of the 32 documents under the Espionage Act, Trump is charged separately for each, while the remaining eight charges include making false statements and obstructing justice. This case marks the first federal indictment of a former U.S. president.
