The base model of the BMW X2 in 2024 will be upgraded with 21-inch wheels and a powerful 312 horsepower engine.

Bavaria’s Compact “Coupe” SUV, the 2024 BMW X2, Enters its Second Generation

The redesigned 2024 BMW X2 is set to enter its second generation, retaining its status as a compact “coupe” SUV. Similar to its predecessor, the X2 maintains a steep roofline and is essentially a modified version of the BMW X1. The X2 is available in two variants: the base xDrive28i and the sportier M35i xDrive, which boasts an impressive 312 horsepower.

Compared to the previous model, the new X2 is larger in size, measuring 7.6 inches longer (with a 0.9-inch longer wheelbase), 2.5 inches taller, and 0.8 inches wider. It also surpasses the current X1 in length by 2.6 inches. The styling of the X2 takes cues from the updated X5 and X6 models, featuring a refreshed appearance. Notably, the rear end is particularly intriguing, showcasing chiseled taillights reminiscent of the pre-facelift G20 3 Series. The X2 offers optional 21-inch wheels, the largest ever provided on a compact BMW.

One controversial feature of the X2 M35i is the inclusion of quad exhaust outlets, a element previously reserved for “genuine” BMW M cars. This addition has raised eyebrows and sparked debates among automotive enthusiasts.

Inside the X2, the design remains largely unchanged. Notably, the seats are made from animal-free perforated Veganza material and come with Alcantara inserts and blue stitching if the M Sport package is selected. This attention to detail enhances the luxurious feel of the SUV.

Under the hood, the base X2 xDrive28i is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine producing 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This power enables the car to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. For those seeking more power, the M35i variant also features a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, but with an increased power output of 312 horsepower. It boasts the same amount of torque as the base model. The M35i accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, thanks to its additional horsepower. Both variants are equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The 2024 BMW X2 represents a new generation for the compact SUV. With its updated design, improved dimensions, and powerful engines, the X2 aims to provide a thrilling driving experience. The controversial quad exhaust outlets on the M35i variant further enhance the vehicle’s aggressive appearance. Inside the cabin, the X2 boasts a luxurious interior with infotainment and comfort features that elevate its overall appeal.
