Zendaya Discusses Future Family Plans, Praises Boyfriend Tom Holland’s Graceful Handling of Fame

Zendaya Praises Boyfriend Tom Holland for Handling Fame Gracefully

Zendaya has expressed admiration for her boyfriend, Tom Holland, for the way he has handled his sudden rise to fame after starring in the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming. The Challengers actress opened up about Holland’s transition to stardom in a cover story for Vogue’s May 2024 British and American issues.

“We were both very, very young, but my career was already kind of going, and his changed overnight,” Zendaya said. “One day you’re a kid and you’re at the pub with your friends, and then the next day you’re Spider-Man. I definitely watched his life kind of change in front of him. But he handled it really beautifully.”

Holland and Zendaya, both 27, starred as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Michelle “MJ” Jones, respectively, in the Spider-Man films: Homecoming (2017), Far from Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021). Prior to that, Holland had made a cameo as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

Zendaya’s career began as a Disney star, starring in Shake It Up alongside Bella Thorne from 2010 to 2013. Now, as an adult, she reflects on the complexities of being a child actor and the impact of fame on her life and potential future children.

“I’m almost going through my angsty teenager phase now, because I didn’t really have the time to do it before,” Zendaya shared. “I felt like I was thrust into a very adult position: I was becoming the breadwinner of my family very early, and there was a lot of role-reversal happening, and just kind of becoming grown, really.”

Zendaya also expressed concerns about her fans losing interest in her and the anxiety that comes with maintaining public appeal. Despite her fears, her recent cover shoot for Vogue showcases her stunning and sophisticated style, further solidifying her status as a fashion icon.

In her upcoming film, Challengers, Zendaya plays Tashi Duncan, a rising tennis prodigy torn between two other stars of the sport, Patrick and Art, played by Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist, respectively. The film is set to hit theaters on April 26.

As for Holland, he recently shared his excitement for the next chapter of his career, expressing a desire to explore new opportunities and challenges in Hollywood. While he has not confirmed another Spider-Man film, he remains open to the idea if it honors the character’s legacy.

Looking ahead, Holland hinted at upcoming projects but remained tight-lipped about specifics. Despite the uncertainties of the industry, both Zendaya and Holland seem poised to navigate their respective careers with grace and determination, continuing to captivate audiences with their talent and charm.
