Mercedes-AMG to Introduce Iconic Super SUV

The key to delivering that power will be axial-flux electric motors, similar to those found in mild hybrid supercars like the Ferrari 296 GTB and McLaren Artura. Mercedes-AMG has acquired YASA, a pioneer in commercializing axial-flux motor technology, and plans to implement these motors in their new super SUV. These motors are known for being power-dense for their size, with one motor generating up to 473 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The new Mercedes-AMG super SUV will also benefit from an 800-volt architecture built into the engine of the company’s next-generation AMG.EA platform.
In addition to the advanced electric motors, the new Mercedes-AMG super SUV will feature state-of-the-art four-wheel steering and torque vectoring, further showcasing Mercedes’ belief in the project’s potential.
