Arsenal sporting director Edu can lean on Kai Havertz for assistance in his search for another summer signing.

Arsenal transfer news: Kai Havertz can help Edu land Joao Felix Edu Joao Felix

Arsenal’s new signing Kai Havertz could help the club get another player through the door at the Emirates. The Gunners are reportedly open to signing a forward this summer and Joao Felix is a player who formed a good friendship with the German during his time at Chelsea.

Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in signing Felix in January. He instead joined Chelsea and endured a miserable six months at Stamford Bridge.

Most of his early weeks at the club were spent on the sidelines after he was sent off on his Premier League debut. The Portuguese star scored four goals in 20 appearances for the Blues, six of which came as a substitute.

Chelsea decided not to pursue him permanently or possibly another loan. But it is clear that Felix wants to leave Atletico Madrid and the Spanish club want to let him go after he was stripped of the number 7 shirt earlier this month.

Arsenal transfer news: Kai Havertz and Joao Felix have become close at Chelsea

Arsenal have spent over £200m this summer and Atletico are not keen to let Felix go on the cheap, four years after his £112m move from Benfica. However, he could be a player Mikel Arteta would like to sign on loan if funds are not available for a full transfer.

Athletic claim Arsenal could make a ‘bonus attacking signing’ this summer and Felix is a player highly valued by the coaching staff. There have been no concrete reports of Felix being a target for the Gunners this summer, but sporting director Edu can count on Havertz’s help if he does.

Felix and Havertz played together at Chelsea last season and appear to be building a good relationship. Havertz is now at Arsenal after his shock £65m move to London.

Felix shone in his praise of Havertz in March when the German endured a difficult spell in front of goal. The 23-year-old insists his team-mate has what it takes to turn things around and become a top player.

Felix said: “Kai is an extraordinary player, everyone knows who he is and what he has done for the club. We are the same age and our relationship on and off the pitch is very good.

“In football sometimes you want to score every game and then every time you don’t score but you have to keep working. Kai is a very good person, he never stops working, he is always looking for better and tomorrow we will going to score.”

Havertz was able to return the favor and put in a good word for Felix to Edu. It might not take long because Arsenal are already fans of the player.

Havertz can also sell the idea of joining Arsenal to Felix. The project Arteta is building at the Emirates is a big part of why he has moved to his city rivals.
