Austria Midfielder Sabitzer Joins Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has secured the signing of Austria midfielder Marcel Sabitzer from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

The 29-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Manchester United, has signed a four-year deal with Dortmund, marking the end of his two-year stint in Bavaria.

Former RB Leipzig star, Sabitzer, expressed his excitement, stating, “I can’t wait to finally join the team and wear the BVB jersey. The discussions with Borussia Dortmund’s managers were excellent and showed me how ambitious the club wants to be in the coming years. I would like to contribute to BVB’s goals and bring something special for the fans to celebrate as soon as possible.”

Sabitzer joins Dortmund, a club that narrowly missed out on the league title to Bayern, losing on goal difference last season after a 2-2 home draw against Mainz on the final day of the campaign.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, who will also link up with the rest of the squad in the United States on Tuesday, praised Sabitzer’s experience and internationallevel performances, saying, “We are convinced that his personality will become an important pillar of the team and that he will help us become even more effective in hard-fought games.”
