Blue Demon Jr. will have his own film and TV universe.

Exile Content Studio, a subsidiary of Candle Media, has teamed up with Blue Demon Jr., a renowned Mexican wrestling icon, in a 360º licensing agreement that will boost the image and trademarks of the masked wrestler on a global scale through film, television and merchandise. Exile Content Studio creates high-quality content in both Spanish and English for a worldwide audience over multiple platforms.

The partnership will see the resurrection of the masked wrestling genre through a number of multimedia content and feature films. One of the initial projects is the feature film ‘The Demon’, which will be co-written by Eugenio Villamar and Dan Carrillo Levy, who obtained Blue Demon Jr.’s life rights in 2018. Levy will also direct the movie.

Blue Demon Jr. inherited the legacy of his father, Blue Demon, a legendary figure in wrestling, who became widely recognized in the 1950s as a symbol of strength, courage and perseverance among the Mexican community. Blue Demon Jr. continues to embody this tradition, bringing a modern touch and building a devoted fan base that extends beyond Mexico.

The new deal will revive the Blue Demon cinematic universe and expand the brand’s multi-platform reach. Blue Demon Jr. boasts worldwide recognition, with his fans including global figures such as Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The production companies involved are emphasizing the extensive nature of the partnership. Blue Demon Jr. will be introduced through a youth program, parent-oriented animation series, video games, and published projects. The partnership also includes an array of products across movies, scripted and unscripted series, music, and spirits.

Exile Content Studio has appointed Stephen Davis, the former chief content officer of Hasbro and president of global consumer product licensing, as an advisor for the Blue Demon Jr. intellectual property strategy. On the topic, Exile’s Nando Vila, head of content, stated, “Blue Demon is an icon with a loyal fan base around the world. He represents the very best of Mexican culture. We are so honored to be a part of the mask’s incredible legacy.”

Moxie 88 is working alongside Exile Content Studio in this hugely exciting project. The Los Angeles based production company is co-founded by writer/directors Eugenio Villamar and Dan Carrillo Levy and specializes in developing film, television, animation, and cross-platform projects for studios and independent productions.

The partnership marks the continuation of Candle Media’s rapid expansion. It’s important to remember that this is not the first international partnership for the media company, which over the past few years has enjoyed prolific growth, strategic acquisitions, and creative talent acquisition.

Exile Content Studio and Moxie 88’s partnership with Blue Demon Jr. will undoubtedly enhance the legacy of this Mexican icon, and bring fans in on the action.
