Determining the Cause and Consequences of the High Presence of Liberal College Professors: A Research Study

College Campuses: Where Intellectual Growth and Radical Activism Collide

The college experience has long been imagined as a time of exploration, intellectual challenge, and youthful partying. But recent years have seen a morphing of the college experience where the antics happening on college campuses have led to a dangerous and bizarre cultural shift, threatening to bleed out into the real world with negative and detrimental consequences. Colleges have been transformed into the “indoctrination machines” of the progressive left, through purposeful hiring practices of college administrators.

According to a recent Harvard survey, more than three-quarters of Harvard Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences faculty identify as “liberal” or “very liberal.” Only 2.5% of faculty identify as “conservative,” and .4% identify as “very conservative.” In contrast, a Gallup Poll report shows that the population of the United States is only just above 25% liberal, with roughly equal proportions of U.S. adults identifying as conservative (36%) and moderate (35%). The fact that over 75% of Harvard faculty are liberal means that something is profoundly wrong. Law professor Jonathan Turley contends that it takes a consistent culture of intolerance for opposing viewpoints, which proliferates in the hiring practices of colleges.

Most colleges in the United States have robust Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion departments, with most requiring prospective professors to write a statement demonstrating how they would commit to promoting DEI in their work and past experiences doing the same. Conservative-leaning possible educators do not want to throw themselves at the altar of DEI. For those professors already in the system, many of these colleges require these statements to receive tenure or promotions. If educators do not adhere to the ideology of DEI, they will not be able to advance their careers.

As a result, colleges are run by left-wing radicals who indoctrinate their students. Case in point, the recent CUNY law student who spoke at her commencement speech and advocated for a revolution in our country, all while spouting anti-Israel hate from the podium. The assistant professor at CUNY Law, Jeffrey Lax, said: “The problem is not her. Students are allowed to be idiots – you’re supposed to be an idiot when you’re a student. The problem is that you have faculty condoning, Ok’ing and pushing this forward.” Unfortunately, many graduating students from liberal institutions are unable to distinguish between their higher education and progressive indoctrination.

However, it’s not just liberal professors who are handpicked; it’s students as well. In 2020, a Harvard study found that only 7% of its incoming class identified as conservative. It seems that college admissions are no longer about merit, but rather about ideology.

These troubling developments are a significant concern for parents who are not interested in sending their children to colleges where indoctrination trump’s intellectual exploration. Prior to such a biased higher education experience, college students would pick up reasonably harmless habits, adopt questionable fashion decisions and join drum circles in the quad; That is no longer the case. Instead, college students are being primed to become social justice warriors and radical activists who prioritize ideology over all else. Unfortunately, this trend is transforming the real world, and we are beginning to see that radical politics are seeping into our criminal justice system, medical institutions, journalism and the media.

It is high time for parents to take a stand and stop pouring their hard-earned money into these activist factories; otherwise, the real consequences of such progressive Marxist ideology will continue to permeate into our society with devastating undertones.
