At present, it is unknown if factors such as speed, weather conditions, or human error were involved in the collision. Authorities are collecting evidence and testimonies to shed light on the incident and determine the causes of this fatal accident. Officers arrived at the scene around 3:30 pm and discovered that the Metro Bus had crashed into a building along with a red sedan. The driver of the sedan was extricated from the vehicle by the Seattle Fire Department and transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. It was reported that the driver of the red sedan was heading south on Fifth Avenue before colliding with the Metro Bus traveling east on Battery Street. The collision caused the Metro Bus to veer off the road and crash into a building near the intersection.

A pedestrian was found outside the building as the Metro Bus veered off the road and hit the woman as it came to a stop. The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Seattle Fire Department and officers assisted the bus passengers who suffered minor injuries that were not life-threatening. An officer trained in drug recognition will determine the sedan driver’s health for vital signs, according to ABC News.
