Harry Kane’s position on Daniel Levy’s Real Madrid transfer sets Tottenham’s new price tag

Real Madrid appear determined to sign Tottenham top scorer Harry Kane following Karim Benzema’s move to Saudi club Al-Ittihad and the striker has now responded to the possibility of such a move.

Harry Kane has given the thumbs up for moving to Real Madrid with the Spanish side launching their bid to sign him.

The Tottenham striker has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over the past few days following the shock departure of Karim Benzema. The Frenchman announced last week that he would be saying goodbye to the Spanish capital after 14 years.

He has since signed a lucrative deal with Saudi outfit Al-Ittihad, leaving Real without a recognized senior centre-forward in their squad. Kane is the most obvious candidate for the reigning European champions with his future looking uncertain with just one year remaining on his Spurs contract.

And it appears a move could be one step closer for the 29-year-old who seems poised to make the switch. According to Spanish outlet Marca, Real have launched their bid to bring Kane to the Bernabeu this summer.

He is reported to have given his approval to their bid, while Daniel Levy has set a price tag of around €80m (£68.8m). Despite Kane’s approval, Real do not appear to be expecting a deal to be easy by any means.

Levy is expected to be firm in the negotiations, something the Spanish side are well aware of after their past attempts to sign Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. Meanwhile, Los Blancos are also unwilling to pay more than €100m (£86m) to secure the services of the England captain.

Real Madrid are interested in Harry Kane following Karim Benzema’s exit

Former Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos is already among those trying to bring Kane to Madrid. He urged the striker not to miss out on a switch this summer.

The veteran defender said: “My advice to any player is not to turn down the chance to play for Real Madrid – this is a special club that knows how to win. He [Kane] has an incredible physique, you can’t score as many goals as he did in the Premier League and can’t play the physical side of the game.

“But he can also play the technical side of the game and I don’t think he gets enough credit for that. Yes, he is a great goalscorer, but he is also a great footballer.”

Kane is fresh back from another brilliant season in the Premier League although Spurs have struggled from a team perspective. He scored 30 goals throughout the campaign and finished only behind Erling Haaland in the pursuit of what would become another Golden Boot.

While he is a target for Real, they appear to have made a decision to sign another candidate. It was previously suggested that they could get Kai Havertz but as things stand, they are yet to attempt to sign him from Chelsea.
