Henri Lansbury Reveals Victory Over Testicular Cancer While at Nottingham Forest

Former footballer Henri Lansbury has revealed that he successfully battled testicular cancer while playing for Nottingham Forest in 2016.

Lansbury joined Forest from Arsenal in 2012 before later signing with Aston Villa in 2017.

“I was just in the shower after training one day,” Lansbury told Sky Sports.

“I was cleaning myself, and I felt a lump. The lump was about the size of a pea, and over time, I thought it would go away.”

He added, “A few months passed, and the lump was still there. We went on vacation during the summer, and before going on holiday, the lump had been bothering me for several months, and I hadn’t told anyone, just trying to deal with it on my own.”

“At some point, I felt I had to seek help from someone.”

“Initially, I went to the local hospital to have it checked. They said the waiting time was a few weeks, and since I was going on vacation, I didn’t want to go away with this condition.”

“So I had to contact the club and ask for assistance. They put me in touch with someone to have my condition checked. I underwent a scan, and the doctor said, ‘Alright, we’ll give you the results later’.”

“As I was leaving to get in my car, the doctor from Nottingham Forest called me and said, ‘Can you pack a bag immediately? You’re going in for surgery tonight.’ I was somewhat surprised because everything happened very quickly, but I was relieved to address the issue.”

Lansbury had loan spells at clubs like Scunthorpe, Watford, Norwich City, and West Ham while at Arsenal before joining Nottingham Forest.zzzzzzzzzz

He then moved from the City Ground to Aston Villa and also played for Bristol City and Luton Town.

Lansbury left Luton Town in the summer after their promotion to the Premier League and announced his retirement in August.
