Instant video messages arrive on WhatsApp

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta Platforms, has officially introduced a new feature that allows users to send instant video messages. This feature, which has been implemented in its rival app Telegram for quite some time, will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.

According to WhatsApp, users will have up to 60 seconds to express themselves in video messages when responding to conversations. To send a video message, users simply need to locate the voice messaging button and tap it to switch to video mode. They can then press and hold the button to start recording. The platform also offers a hands-free option for recording videos by simply swiping up to lock and record the video without having to hold down the button.

When video messages are posted in chat conversations, they will play with the audio muted by default. Users can easily activate the sound by tapping on the video. WhatsApp ensures that these video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring secure conversations. As we enter the holiday season, it is expected that users will take advantage of this feature to share details of their vacations with their loved ones.

This new addition is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to become a more comprehensive messaging platform. However, there are still more updates to come in future updates.

To access this new feature, users are advised to make sure they have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on their mobile devices.

WhatsApp continues to enhance its features to keep up with the competition and provide its users with a seamless messaging experience. With the introduction of instant video messages, WhatsApp aims to provide a more interactive and engaging way for users to communicate with their contacts.
