Instantly View New Addresses on Google Maps without Unlocking Your Phone

A year ago, Google promised several new features for Google Maps, creating high expectations among users. However, some of these promises seemed to have disappeared, especially one that caught my attention: the visible directions without unlocking the phone. Finally, after a twelve-month wait, this functionality has become a reality for users of iOS and Android, showing that Google had not forgotten its commitment.

The idea of not having to constantly unlock your phone to check addresses as you move around the city, whether walking, cycling, or using public transportation, is something that many people have been eagerly awaiting. Google Maps has always been an essential tool in daily life, and this new feature promises to make things even easier.

How does it work?
The addresses visible on the lock screen display crucial information about your route directly on the screen without having to interact with the phone. This includes estimated arrival times (ETA) and directions for the next turn. If you decide to take a different route than the one suggested, Google Maps will automatically update the trip to reflect this change.

By pressing start route, you can see the directions at all times without unlocking the mobile.

To activate this function, simply go to the Navigation Settings section within the Google Maps settings. This implementation is mainly aimed at those who travel on foot or by car, offering a faster and easier way to follow the route without distractions.

In my view, this update reflects an important step towards integrating technology into our daily lives in a less intrusive way. Google demonstrates that it understands the needs of its users, making our trips easier and contributing to a safer and more efficient experience. Despite the delay in delivering this functionality, I prefer to focus on the added value it represents for our daily interaction with technology.
