Manchester United reportedly rejected a suggestion from Bruno Fernandes when they officially acquired Rasmus Hojlund in the summer 2023 transfer window.

Manchester United has once again successfully acquired their target in the summer 2023 transfer window.

This time, Manchester United successfully recruited Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

The negotiation process for Hojlund was challenging as Atalanta was reluctant to let go of the Danish striker at a low price.

Eventually, Manchester United agreed to bring in Hojlund for a fee of up to 70 million euros.

This fee includes the transfer cost and additional variable bonuses.

From leaked information, Hojlund is expected to sign a long-term contract lasting five years.

This means that the player nicknamed Erling Haaland KW will stay at Old Trafford until 2028.

In addition, Manchester United has also included a one-year extension option in Hojlund’s contract clause.

This transfer amount will make Hojlund the most expensive striker for Manchester United.

Behind the complex Hojlund transfer process, there was apparently input from captain Bruno Fernandes.

According to BolaSport.com from Sportbible, Manchester United is believed to have disregarded Bruno’s advice when recruiting Rasmus Hojlund.

Bruno never suggested Manchester United to acquire the 20-year-old striker.

Instead, Bruno recommended his club to sign Benfica’s striker, Goncalo Ramos.

According to the Portuguese national team midfielder, Goncalo Ramos is a suitable striker for Manchester United.

Goncalo Ramos is considered to have complete abilities as a striker in the Premier League.

“The best is always useful, whether it’s Goncalo or other players,” Bruno said.

“I think he has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say the Premier League, I also mean Manchester United.”

“I think he can be a good reference in the coming years, but it’s still not in my hands to become a sports director.”

“Goncalo has all the requirements to play in the Premier League, he’s very intense, presses very well, and is very good in the penalty box.”

“He surprised me in the national team, not just me but also my teammates.”

“He has a strong physique, he’s still young, and he will get even better.”

“If he continues to work as he has done, I think he has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world, but he has to go to a more competitive league to prove it,” Bruno continued.

However, Goncalo Ramos has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Veteran Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Portuguese striker’s move to Paris is getting closer.

“Paris Saint-Germain is getting closer to a deal for Goncalo Ramos!” Fabrizio Romano tweeted.

“The deal is very close, final details are being sorted out, it could be completed this week.”

“A package cost of 80 million euros for Benfica, including add-ons.”

“Ramos has agreed to a contract until June 2028. This is what is expected to happen soon,” Fabrizio Romano wrote.

Manchester United has successfully sold some unused assets in the summer 2023 transfer window. However, the clear-out at Old Trafford is not yet complete. The Red Devils are rumored to want to offload at least eight more players.

So far, MU has released Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga. They have also let go of young talents predicted not to break into the first team: Ethan Laird, Charlie Savage, and Zidane Iqbal.

The management now intends to offload several other names. Manchester Evening News mentions they are Eric Bailly, Dean Henderson, Brandon Williams, Donny van de Beek, Nathan Bishop, and one of either Scott McTominay or Fred.

Manchester United intends to sell them permanently. It’s a different case for Hannibal Mejbri and Facundo Pellistri. The club only wants to loan them out to get regular playing time. From there, MU will decide whether to keep them or let them go next season.

This massive action is crucial in MU’s remaining transfer window plans. Manager Erik ten Hag still needs funds to buy players. The money can be obtained from the sales.

MU’s desire to offload Van de Beek may come true. La Liga club Real Sociedad reportedly intends to sign the Dutch footballer on loan in the summer 2023 transfer window.

As known, Van de Beek has so far not made a significant contribution to the Red Devils. He was sidelined due to a long injury that kept him off the field for Manchester United.

This condition has limited Van de Beek’s playing time with MU last season. He only played in 10 matches in all competitions, without any goals or assists during the 2022/2023 campaign.

Van de Beek made a strong comeback in a pre-season match for the Red Devils against Lyon on July 19. The Dutch footballer scored the lone goal that led the Red Devils to a 1-0 victory.

However, this does not seem to change Van de Beek’s plan to explore opportunities elsewhere.

The 1997-born player had previously stated his intention to explore options outside of Old Trafford, as his contract with MU is set to expire in 2025.

A move to La Liga could be an interesting option for Donny van de Beek. Reports from Noticias de Gipuzkoa, cited by Daily Mail, claim that Real Sociedad is interested in renting the player from Old Trafford.

The club that finished 4th in the La Liga standings in the 2022/2023 season has taken serious steps to follow up on its plan to bring Donny van de Beek to Spain.

Real Sociedad is reportedly negotiating with Erik ten Hag’s team and hopes to reach a loan agreement for the player, accompanied by a purchase option worth £8 million.

Even if he’s not interested in moving to Real Sociedad, Donny van de Beek still has another alternative to consider for the summer. Daily Mail reports revealed that the Dutch player has previously been offered to Roma in the summer transfer window.

On the other hand, Fred has more potential suitors than McTominay. Transfer expert journalist Fabrizio Romano mentioned that Turkish club Galatasaray is one of the teams willing to accommodate him.

“Fred will leave Manchester United this summer… Galatasaray is still interested in signing Fred as their priority target, as revealed two weeks ago,” Romano said, as quoted from SportBible.

If Galatasaray fails to reach an agreement with MU regarding Fred’s transfer plans, the Brazilian international still has another option to consider this summer.

English Premier League club Fulham is reportedly also interested in moving the player from Old Trafford to their base in London.

For your information, The Cottagers have been rumored to be interested in Fred for quite some time. Rumors of their connection with the MU midfielder gained momentum after coach Marco Silva discussed with the player after the Manchester United vs. Fulham match at the end of last season.
