Morgan Wallen sheds light on the ‘negative side of the music industry’ following N-word controversy

Country Music Star Morgan Wallen Speaks Out Against “Dark Side” of Music Industry

It’s been nearly three years since the country music star Morgan Wallen was targeted by the cancel culture mob for dropping the n-word on camera after a drunken night out with friends. Now, he’s speaking out to expose what he describes as the “dark side of the music business.”

In a new interview, Wallen spoke out against the release of previously unheard tracks that he wrote and recorded in the early days of his music career. He stated that he deeply regrets signing recording and artist management deals without any legal representation.

“Back in 2014, I went to Florida to try my hand at making original music and songwriting for the first time,” said Wallen, 30, according to Entertainment Tonight. “This led to a recording deal with a local investor and an artist management deal that I deeply regret. Unfortunately, I signed both deals without any legal representation.”

Wallen expressed his frustration that the “Stand Alone (10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)” was released last Thursday, adding that he’s been exploring every avenue possible to acquire the rights to this old music and keep the quality of his catalog consistent with songs he chooses to release and believes in.

He went on to say, “It’s gross, greedy and an example of how the dark side of the music business can suck the soul out of artists. I want you to know this is NOT my new music and I don’t want to see this happen to anyone else. I cringe when I listen to these songs and I’m concerned my fans may mistakenly believe this is a new release by me.”

Wallen finally revealed that he will be recording his next album next month, feeling inspired creatively and super excited to make more music he’s proud of. “Trust me, when new music is ready, you’ll hear it directly from me.”**

Wallen found himself in hot water back in February of 2021 when he was caught on camera dropping the n-word as he arrived home from a drunken night out with friends. Last month, Wallen opened up about the backlash that he received for using this racial slur.

He expressed his regret, saying, “There’s no excuse. I’ve never made an excuse. I never will make an excuse.” He admitted to saying things that should not have been said and claimed that he had never been the person people were portraying him to be. He said that the backlash and being labeled a certain way created regret for him.

However, despite being targeted by the cancel culture mob, Wallen remains one of the most popular stars in today’s country music world.

“Stand Alone (10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)” was released last Thursday, much to Wallen’s dismay.

In terms of streaming, Wallen has extended his record as the most-streamed country artist EVER with over 12 billion lead streams on Spotify. He is now again gaining around 15 million lead streams daily.
