OL Khalil Stewart has committed to Maryland.

Khalil Stewart Commits to Maryland, Chooses Terps Over Penn State and Virginia Tech

Khalil Stewart, a standout offensive lineman out of Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s, has become Maryland’s second commitment of the 2025 recruiting cycle. The highly sought-after prospect chose the Terps over offers from Penn State and Virginia Tech, citing a strong connection with the coaching staff and the program’s development of players as key factors in his decision.

“I’m committing to Maryland,” Stewart said. “Since the first time I went up to Maryland, I always had a good vibe from the coaches and the place. My parents felt the same way and, throughout this whole recruiting process, you build relationships with coaches and staff. They built a great relationship with me and my family. The coaches have always been real to my family. They really wanted me there.”

Stewart, who prides himself on playing with aggressiveness and finishing his blocks, was drawn to the coaching style of Maryland’s offensive line coach, Coach Braswell. “Coach Braswell always says you should play with aggressiveness and that’s how I play,” he said. “I just love finishing my blocks and beating up the person across from me.”

In addition to his connection with the coaching staff, Stewart was impressed with Maryland’s player development and the team’s playing style. “I like how players come in and develop,” said Stewart. “I liked how powerful they are and how quick they are off the ball. That’s how I’m trying to get my game style too.”

Stewart’s commitment is a significant win for Maryland’s recruiting efforts, as the program looks to gain momentum during the spring visit season. His decision is a testament to the impact of a positive campus visit, as his experience at the Illinois game last season left a lasting impression on him and his family.

Looking ahead, Stewart is focused on his physical development and is eager to work with Maryland’s strength and conditioning staff once he arrives on campus. With his strong work ethic and determination, Maryland anticipates that Stewart will bring positional flexibility to the offensive line, capable of playing either tackle or guard depending on how his frame fills out over the next couple of years.

Stewart’s commitment is a significant addition to Maryland’s 2025 recruiting class and represents a promising start to the program’s efforts in building a strong roster for the future. As Stewart looks forward to joining the Terps, his commitment speaks to the program’s ability to attract top talent and develop players both on and off the field.
