Pirate Duo in Culiacán: Murder, CJNG, and Networks

The Cruel Assassination of Culiacán’s Pirate Continues to Spark Discussion

Almost six years after the heinous murder of Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales, better known as the Pirate of Culiacán, people are still talking about it.

It is a widely accepted fact that this young man died after insulting El Mencho through a video.

The famous YouTuber, who gained fame for flaunting a life full of excess, passed away on December 18, 2017.

However, to this day, there remains doubt as to whether Ricardo Ruiz Velazco, known as El Doble R, ordered his death.

Who is El Doble R?

In addition to being known as El Doble R, Ricardo Ruiz Velazco also goes by the nickname El Tripa.

He is said to be a lieutenant of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Besides the Pirate of Culiacán, he is known to be responsible for the deaths of other ‘famous’ individuals.

According to Infobae, these victims include Venezuelan model Daisy Ferrer and José de Jesús Gallegos, the Secretary of Tourism.

At the time, it was claimed that the hitmen who arrived at the bar where Juan Luis was located were acting under orders from Ricardo Ruiz Velazco.

Repercussions of the Assassination

However, not only El Doble R is linked to the murder of the Pirate of Culiacán, but also Emilio Alexandro Pinedo.

Known as El Sobrino, he incriminated himself after being captured, as pictures of murdered individuals were found on his phone.

Among these pictures was Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales. Subsequently, authorities sought El Doble R in order to arrest El Mencho.

Ricardo Ruiz Velazco was captured in December 2014. Despite having nine arrest warrants against him, the authorities released him.

Ordered to Execute the YouTuber

According to reports from Prensa Libre, the authorities confirmed that it was El Doble R who ordered the execution of the Pirate of Culiacán.

With this action, Ricardo Ruiz Velazco wanted to establish his authority and make a couple of things clear:

One of them being that no one could mock Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, El Mencho, let alone the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

Anyone who dared to do so would receive their just punishment, just like Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales.

The ‘Other’ Side of El Doble R

In addition to being a lieutenant of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, El Doble R performs other functions that very few people know about.

Ricardo Ruiz Velazco is credited with the strategy of creating videos against other criminal groups.

For this, he would use masked individuals equipped with tactical-military gear with a simple objective…

To convey messages or even deny the CJNG’s responsibility in certain criminal activities, which is not an easy task.

Like the Pirate of Culiacán, He is a YouTuber

Ricardo Ruiz Velazco, El Doble R, and the Pirate of Culiacán have something in common that few would imagine. Each with their unique style.

According to Publimetro, the lieutenant allegedly frequently uploads photos and videos to his social media accounts (Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube).

His ‘obsession’ is such that apparently, his fellow members within the organization refer to him as ‘the YouTuber.’

Finally, the Secretariat of National Defense has accused him of creating military-style propaganda videos that he disseminates on his social media platforms.

In conclusion, the assassination of the Pirate of Culiacán sparked various repercussions and shed light on the activities and influence of individuals like El Doble R within the criminal underworld. It serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers and consequences associated with online provocations and interactions with criminal organizations.
