Romeo Lavia’s touch comes as Liverpool ‘consider’ a deal for the 17-goal winger

Liverpool’s latest transfer rumors Romeo Lavia, Fabinho and Keito Nakamura

Romeo Lavia from Southampton

Liverpool step up their pre-season preparations this week with a trip to Singapore where they will face Leicester City and Bayern Munich.

But Jurgen Klopp will have to do with some gaping holes in his squad.

Jordan Henderson’s departure was confirmed by the club yesterday, with the Liverpool captain completing a controversial £12m transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al Ettifaq.

Meanwhile, Fabinho has stayed on on Merseyside when he himself was on the verge of a £40m move to Saudi Arabia.

This means Liverpool will be busy in the transfer market ahead of their game against Chelsea on August 13. So who are they associated with? Here are the latest transfer rumours:

Romeo Lavia
Liverpool have turned down one bid for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, but will return with a better offer.

The Reds initially offered £34m plus £4m in add-ons for the 19-year-old but will bid closer to Southampton’s £50m asking price.

But there could be changes if Liverpool don’t finalize the deal soon.

However, they could face competition from Chelsea, who are said to be considering a move for Lavia after their latest bid for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo was rejected.

Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Lavia is an alternative being considered by Londoners, so Liverpool must move quickly to avoid a bidding war.

Fabinho

Fabinho‘s move is getting closer, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

He said that a medic could line up as soon as the talks get under way. ECHO reported earlier this week that Liverpool are still confident a deal will be reached with Al Itihad, despite delays in discussions.

The club enjoys a close relationship with Fabinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and are confident that talks will be able to develop.

Nonetheless, Romano reports that the Reds are remaining cautious, but hopeful that things will clear up soon.

Keith Nakamura

Liverpool have been linked with a move for LASK winger Keito Nakamura.

The Japan international has been linked with a move to Anfield several times and Foot Mercato say the Reds want to pay £6m for the 22-year-old, before sending him back on loan to Austria.

Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa have also been linked with the talented winger, who scored 17 goals and made eight assists last season, as well as netting one goal in two appearances for his country.

Liverpool hardly need a new forward, although a deal that sends him back on loan would, in theory, make sense.
