One of the latest additions to Google Photos is the Google Photos Magic Editor, which enhances the functionality of the Magic Eraser by allowing users to move subjects within an image and adjust the brightness of individual objects. In addition to the Magic Editor, Google has announced the release of 12 new video effects that will complement the existing video filters in the app. It is important to note the distinction between “effects” and “filters.” Filters mainly add a superficial layer over the video, often a transparent image overlaid on top. On the other hand, effects modify the video itself, resulting in a more realistic or eye-catching outcome.
To access the effects, users must open Google Photos, select the video they want to modify, swipe up, and click on “Edit.” The Effects section will be displayed next to the Filters section, although it may not be available in all regions at the moment.

Before applying an effect, users can preview it through a thumbnail image. Once applied, they can save a copy of the video with the effect and share it as desired.
Initially, these new features will be rolled out to Pixel mobile users and Google One members, who enjoy various benefits including access to exclusive features like these. However, it is expected that the functionality will eventually be available to all Google Photos users.
