Two new V6 plug-in hybrid models have been introduced to the 2024 Porsche Panamera lineup.

The 2024 Porsche Panamera is getting a boost with the addition of two new V6 plug-in hybrid variants. These updated models offer faster charging, longer electric driving range, and faster acceleration than their predecessors. The new generation Panamera is set to arrive in Australian showrooms next month. The upcoming models, Panamera petrol V6 and Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid plug-in hybrid petrol V8, will be the last generation of Porsche to offer petrol engines. The prices and arrival time of the two new plug-in hybrids have not been confirmed yet.

The 4 E-Hybrid and the 4S E-Hybrid will use 2.9-liter biturbo V6 engines, an electric motor, and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. These plug-in hybrids will also feature all-wheel drive. The 4 E-Hybrid utilizes a 224 kW engine and a new 140 kW/750 Nm electric motor integrated into the housing of the transmission. This combined power allows the 4 E-Hybrid to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 280 km/h. On the other hand, the 4S E-Hybrid will take the V6 engine to 260 kW (with the electric motor at 140 kW) for a total of 400 kW/750 Nm. The 4S E-Hybrid will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds with a maximum speed of 290 km/h.

Both models will use 400-volt technology and a new 25.9 kWh (gross capacity) battery, which is claimed to enable up to 95 km of electric driving range, marking a significant improvement over the previous Panamera hybrid V6, which only offered 54 km of electric driving range. Additionally, both the 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid will come with a new 11kW integrated AC charger that significantly reduces charging time to two hours and thirty-nine minutes. Both models will also utilize regenerative braking to power the battery with up to 88 kW.

The new plug-in hybrids will feature four hybrid driving modes, including an E-Hold mode to save battery power, an E-Charge setting to recharge the battery using the engine, and Sport and Sport Plus driving modes that focus on performance while ensuring the battery does not drop below a certain charge percentage.

These hybrid models will also have unique front bumpers to optimize cooling and come with high-definition matrix LED headlights, privacy glass, soft-close doors, a 360-degree camera with active parking support, wireless smartphone charging, and 14-way power-adjustable front seats with memory. The 4 Hybrid and 4S Hybrid variants will ride on 19-inch and 20-inch wheels, respectively. Additionally, Porsche’s ‘Dreams’ exterior paint range, which allows for custom colors, will be standard on both new V6 hybrids.

Furthermore, a long-wheelbase Executive model of the Porsche Panamera will be available in select markets.

The update for the Porsche Panamera is part of a broader trend of electric and hybrid vehicle expansion within the company. The 2024 Porsche Panamera will be joined by an updated version of the all-electric Porsche Taycan, which is scheduled to arrive in showrooms at the end of 2024.

In conclusion, the new V6 plug-in hybrid variants represent a significant step forward for the Porsche Panamera, offering more power, greater efficiency, and a commitment to electric and hybrid technology. The updated models are expected to be available in Australian showrooms in the coming months, offering customers a new and improved driving experience. We will wait eagerly for updates regarding the pricing and availability of these new models in the Australian market.
