Following Wynonna Judd’s performance with Jelly Roll to kick off the 2023 Country Music Awards on Wednesday night, fans expressed concern over her health. Judd took to Instagram to address the backlash over her performance, expressing how nervous she was during the performance.

After Judd and Jelly Roll took the stage at the Country Music Awards. Many fans went into panic mode after her performance feeling like something was wrong with her.

During her emotional video, Judd admitted that she was “so freaking nervous” and that she “just held on for dear life” during the performance, wanting the best for the artist. She expressed appreciation for Jelly Roll for inviting her and support the artist’s career.

“I’m just gonna come clean with y’all. I was so freaking nervous,” she said in the video. “I got out there and I looked at Jelly Roll. I wanted it to be so good for him. I could cry right now, but I’m not going to because I’m such a fan of his and he asked me to sing and I said, ‘Absolutely!'”

“I got out there and I was so nervous that I just held on for dear life,” she added. “And that’s the bottom line. All is well!”

This came after several fans expressed concern on social media, saying that Judd looked “unsteady” with one social media user commenting, “Something is wrong with her. Hope she is ok!” Another social media user added, “Wynonna Judd is holding on to Jelly Roll for dear life #CMAawards.”

Judd’s mother Naomi Judd tragically committed suicide in April of last year at the age of 76, and Judd has not been the same since. She has expressed her struggles with dealing with her mother’s passing, showing her emotional vulnerability as a remarkable country music artist.

Before taking the stage, Judd opened up to Entertainment Tonight about why she decided to perform with Jelly Roll where she says, “I have to show up for people like people did me… I have my ups and my downs and that’s life…”

Prior to her performance, Judd addressed “a tough Mama day” knowing that she would have to perform so soon after her mother’s anniversary. She is seen emotional throughout the event according to her statements to ET.

Judd previously talked about meeting Jelly Roll for the first time when they performed at the CMT Awards earlier this year. After the award show was over, Judd went straight to Jelly Roll and his wife Bunnie XO and told them that “I didn’t know anything about you until just now and I need to be part of your world.” expressing overwhelming excitement as she recounted her enthusiasm with People Magazine.
