Actress Meg Bennett, known for her role in ‘Young and the Restless,’ passes away at age 75

Meg Bennett, a beloved actress and writer known for her work on popular soap operas like “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless,” has passed away. Her family confirmed the news of her death on April 11 after a battle with cancer.

Growing up in Pasadena, Bennett began her acting career in 1975 on “Search For Tomorrow” where she portrayed the character Liza Walton for a few episodes. However, it was her role as Julia Martin on “The Young and the Restless” that gave her major recognition in the industry. She continued to sporadically reprise this role over the next four decades, becoming a staple in the soap opera world.

In addition to her work on “The Young and the Restless,” Bennett also had acting credits on shows like “General Hospital” and “The Paper Chase.” She was not only known for her acting skills but also for her contributions to the shows she worked on as a writer. In fact, she worked her way up to become the associate head writer at “General Hospital” and penned a total of 197 episodes according to IMDb.

Bennett is survived by her husband, Robert Guza, Jr., who is the co-creator and writer of “Sunset Beach,” as well as her two stepdaughters, four grandchildren, and two siblings. She was 75 years old at the time of her passing.
