Another recent poll has shown that Donald Trump is leading Joe Biden by a significant margin among independent voters.

**Trump Leads Biden Among Independent Voters**

In a recent poll conducted by the Economist/YouGov from March 10-12, 2024, former President Donald Trump is taking a double-digit lead over President Joe Biden among independent voters. The survey, which included 1,559 U.S. adult citizens, asked respondents who they would support in a hypothetical presidential matchup between Trump and Biden, a repeat of the 2020 election.

Among all respondents and registered voters, Trump leads Biden by two points, with 44 percent supporting Trump compared to Biden’s 42 percent. Earlier in March, the two candidates were tied at 44 percent each. Trump maintains majority support from Republicans at 89 percent, while Biden has majority support from Democrats at the same percentage. The focus now shifts to independent voters, who are backing Trump over the incumbent in the recent survey.

Among independents, Trump garners support from 40 percent, while Biden trails behind with only 30 percent support. Another 13 percent of independents support “other,” five percent are unsure, and 11 percent report they will not vote. This significant lead among independent voters highlights their pivotal role in determining election outcomes.

Notably, independents also disapprove of Biden’s handling of his job as president, with a shocking 63 percent expressing disapproval in the survey.

Additionally, the survey reveals that more independents expect Trump to win the 2024 election, regardless of their personal preference for a candidate. Among U.S. adult citizens, 45 percent believe Trump will win, compared to 33 percent for Biden. Among Democrats, 71 percent expect Biden to win, while only 11 percent believe Trump will emerge victorious. Among Republicans, 79 percent anticipate a Trump victory, while only 6 percent expect Biden to win.

While the election is still months away, these polling results indicate a shift in momentum towards Trump among independent voters. Independents play a crucial role in deciding election outcomes, making their support a key factor in the upcoming election.

The political landscape remains dynamic, and these polling results provide valuable insights into the preferences and expectations of voters as the 2024 election approaches.
