BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood announced she has married her partner Steve.

The couple’s wedding took place on Wednesday in Buckinghamshire.

“It was the most perfect, romantic and intimate wedding. We were both so happy,” she told BBC Breakfast.

Kirkwood, 61, revealed his engagement live on BBC Breakfast from the Chelsea Flower Show in 2022.

At the time, she showed off her engagement ring during the weather forecast and said: ‘We went on a picnic, I had no idea.

“The weather was really nice, we were sitting chatting… he was fumbling in his pocket and then a ring came out, I thought he was actually joking, I can’t believe he started it.”

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Kirkwood thanked well-wishers and said he and Steve were “so happy.”

“It wasn’t a ‘secret’ wedding, just a private wedding,” he added.

Inverness-shire-born Kirkwood joined the BBC Weather Center team in 1998 and was named best TV weather presenter at the Television and Radio Industries Club Awards on nine separate occasions – including every year from 2012 to 2017, since the category was cancelled. .

She came 10th in the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 and has written several novels.

Kirkwood hasn’t revealed many details about Steve, including his last name, but he previously told Prima Magazine that he is “very handsome” and “always makes me laugh”.

“He always made me a cup of tea before going to work in the morning, and it was so romantic – it was 2.45am!

“And he often leaves little love notes for me when I come home from work. To me, that’s worth a million red roses,” he said.

Kirkwood added that he was “the best thing that ever happened to me, without a doubt”.
