Company Introduces Android Mobile Compatible with Car Touch Screens

The convergence of the technology and automotive industries has reached new heights, breaking down the barriers between the two sectors. The recent launch of the Xiaomi car exemplifies what happens when a technology company ventures into the automotive market. However, what happens when a car manufacturer decides to enter the mobile phone market?

Enter the new Polestar Phone, unveiled alongside the updated Polestar 4, an electric SUV that made waves last year and has finally made its way to Spain this April. The Polestar Phone, designed specifically for Polestar car drivers, boasts an Android-based customization layer and exclusive apps that are tailored to the brand’s vehicles.

The Polestar Phone features a minimalist design, with a user interface similar to the touch screen system found in Polestar cars. The phone can be connected to the car’s screen, allowing users to display their installed apps in a triple view mode, essentially enabling them to use their phone directly on the car screen.

Notably, the Polestar Phone is based on the Meizu 21 Pro, customized to fit the needs of Polestar drivers. The device comes equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16 GB of RAM, a 6.79-inch display, and a triple camera system. It also supports fast and wireless charging for its 5,050 mAh battery.

Meizu, the parent company of Polestar, shifted its focus from manufacturing smartphones to artificial intelligence, resulting in the incorporation of AI features in the Polestar Phone. These features include AI image generation, AI search using the camera, and a virtual assistant with a dedicated button.

With a Scandinavian-inspired design and a price tag of 7,388 yuan (approximately 953 euros), the Polestar Phone offers an attractive option for Polestar drivers. In China, the phone is being offered as a gift to Polestar 4 buyers, further solidifying its integration into the Polestar ecosystem.

The Polestar Phone represents a bold move by the car manufacturer to venture into the mobile phone market, signaling the increasing overlap between technology and automotive companies in creating innovative solutions for consumers.
