“It’s no surprise the news of my Dad and Theresa choosing to split has sparked a range of emotions and opinions. I love how invested people were in the show, what an experience to have you along for the ride!” Angie wrote.
Despite the criticism, Angie stands by her father and Theresa, emphasizing that they are both good people who deserve to be treated with respect. She expressed disappointment at the level of hate her family has received but remained gracious in her response.
“I kindly urge everyone to remember that behind every story, there are real people with real feelings. To all those that have chosen to show my dad, Theresa, and our family love and compassion… Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she continued.
Angie also gave a special shout-out to podcast personality Andy Levine, who she said truly understood her dad’s situation. On a recent podcast episode, Andy highlighted that Gerry and Theresa could have prolonged their relationship for the sake of the show but chose to end things authentically.
Gerry and Theresa officially announced their split on April 12 on “Good Morning America”. Despite still being in love, the couple cited disagreements about where to live as the reason for their breakup. This led to them living separately and eventually deciding to end their marriage.
