Saturday Night Live Tackles Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy in Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce Sketch

Look at what Taylor Swift made Saturday Night Live do. The show humorously referenced Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy in a sketch about the NFL’s fascination with the singer and her relationship with Travis Kelce.

Thanks to Taylor Swift, everything in the NFL has changed.

Dramatic? Maybe not. Ever since the singer hinted that Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce might be her “end game,” the sports world hasn’t been the same for anyone, including the cast of Saturday Night Live, who playfully teased the romance during the October 14th episode of the sketch show.

“Alright, it’s week seven, and if there are any Taylor Swift fans watching, the Chiefs game was on Thursday,” started Kenan Thompson, portraying analyst Curt Menefee. “You just missed her…Alright, alright, alright. Let’s get into the game and stop talking about Taylor and her little boyfriend.”

And yes, he just went there. “Whoa, boyfriend?” exclaimed Mikey Day, playing retired pro Howie Long. “Hold on. Nobody said boyfriend. Let’s not jump to conclusions.”

While the analysts—also featuring Devon Walker as Michael Strahan and Molly Kearney as Terry Bradshaw—debated, James Austin Johnson (playing Jimmy Johnson) admitted he was just glad they were “out of the woods.” By that, he meant, “I’m just glad it’s not Matty Healy.”

From there, sparks (and not the good kind) started to fly.

“Don’t say that name!” cried Day. Walker offered some advice: “From one Super Bowl champion to another, this is a way bigger deal than the Super Bowl. You cannot mess this up. This is very delicate.”

But let’s not get carried away. “It’s still early,” Johnson chimed in. “You’re treating it like it’s Joe [Alwyn] all over again. That won’t end well. Didn’t you listen to ‘Karma?’”

“And this is why we can’t have nice things,” explained Day. “‘Karma’ isn’t about Joe! Are you insane? Not everything has to be about Joe!”

While Thompson attempted to bring the conversation back, he cut to Pete Davidson—a.k.a. sideline reporter Kenny Ditullio—who was at MetLife Stadium. The mood there? “Devastating,” said Davidson, bedazzled in a pink cowboy hat and friendship bracelets with a 13 on his hand. “Taylor is nowhere to be seen.”

But why would she be there? “Because there was a rumor online that she was coming to cheer on Travis Kelce’s brother Jason, who plays for the Eagles, duh,” he said. “But so far, no sign of blondie. I’m starting to wonder why I’m even here.”

Once again, Thompson attempted to steer the conversation back. “I can’t believe our sideline reporter is the biggest Taylor Swift fan,” he said, leading the men back in the studio to debate who the real fan is. “Knock it off, people tuned in for football…When we get back, we’re going to speak with someone who actually wants to talk football.”

And then, Travis appeared, eagerly saying, “Yes, please!”

Yes, this is what we signed up for. Well, that and Swift’s cameo to introduce her friend Ice Spice as the musical guest. For something truly out of your wildest dreams, keep reading for more on Taylor and Travis’ big night out in NYC…
