The price of the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV has now fallen below $50,000 as demand continues to rise.

After facing software issues that left some owners stranded, General Motors (GM) recently announced that sales of the Chevrolet Blazer EV have now resumed, coinciding with significant price cuts. The move comes after the electric SUV received mixed reviews upon its initial release last summer, with many criticizing its ride quality, seating, and cargo space.

The cheapest version of the Blazer EV, the LT with all-wheel drive, originally cost $56,715 before factoring in the federal tax credit. However, it is now reportedly priced at $50,195, reducing the net cost to $42,695 after accounting for the tax credit. Similarly, the more expensive RS model with both drivetrains has seen a price reduction, dropping from $60,215 for the AWD version and $61,790 for the rear-wheel drive model to $54,595 and $56,170, respectively. Without the federal tax credit, these prices are $47,095 and $48,670.

Customers who purchased the Blazer EV before these price changes are entitled to a refund for the price difference, a move that contrasts with how some other electric vehicle manufacturers have handled similar situations.

Despite the price drops, some are skeptical about whether the Blazer EV will become a competitive choice among electric SUVs. With numerous more appealing options already available in the market and the recent unveiling of models like the Rivian R2 and R3, Chevy faces stiff competition and must step up its game in the electric vehicle space to stay relevant.

Looking ahead, GM will need to deliver on upcoming electric vehicle models like the Equinox EV to remain competitive and not fall behind in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle market.
