The Rivian R1T, equipped with a ‘Max Pack’ battery that can travel up to 410 miles, has been released.

Rivian Delivers Longest-Range “Max Pack” Battery to R1T Trucks and R1S SUVs

Rivian, the growing electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially started delivering its longest-range “max pack” battery to its R1T trucks and R1S SUVs. This milestone positions Rivian’s vehicles as the longest-legged electric vehicles in their respective classes.

Initially, the Rivian R1T was launched with two battery options: 105 and 135 kilowatt-hour (kWh), providing a range of up to 314 miles. The same battery options were also available for the R1S SUV, albeit with a slightly reduced range. Both vehicles were slated to receive the largest battery pack option, a 180 kWh maximum, but faced delays along with other key features like the camp kitchen and electric canvas cover.

However, Rivian has now announced that the first R1T trucks equipped with the max pack battery have been delivered, marking the arrival of what some may consider the definitive versions of Rivian’s vehicles.

The max pack battery is estimated to offer a range of 410 miles for the R1T, while the R1S is expected to have a ceiling of 400 miles. Customers can now configure their vehicles with the max pack option on both models, available with both base and high-performance transmissions. It is worth noting that the quad motor configuration is not supported with the max pack. For the base battery, the max pack option will cost an additional $16,000, compared to $6,000 for the midsize package.

Rivian is also set to begin deliveries of the R1S max pack models later this fall. With other three-row electric vehicles expected to hit the market in the near future, Rivian’s vehicles are likely to maintain their position with a range approaching 400 miles, surpassing the 300-mile range of most competitors.

Rivian’s achievement in delivering the longest-range electric vehicles solidifies its position as a frontrunner in the EV market. The company continues to attract attention and anticipation, with its innovative features and commitment to sustainable transportation.
