Christina Applegate Reveals 30 Brain Lesions from Multiple Sclerosis Fight

Christina Applegate Opens Up About Struggles with Multiple Sclerosis

Christina Applegate, known for her roles in TV shows like “Married with Children” and “Dead to Me,” is bravely sharing her daily battles with multiple sclerosis (MS). In a recent interview on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, Applegate revealed the intense pain she is facing as a result of the disease.

The actress first disclosed her MS diagnosis in 2021, but this is the first time she has opened up about the extent of her condition. She shared that she now has 30 lesions on her brain, with the largest one located behind her right eye. This particular lesion is causing excruciating pain, which Applegate describes as “the worst thing that’s ever happened to me in my entire life.”

Despite the pain she is enduring, Applegate is grateful that the lesion has not affected her vision. However, she has experienced other MS symptoms that have greatly impacted her mobility. She explained, “My hand starts to go weird and then I’ll get a seizure-y feeling sometimes in my brain.”

The pain Applegate is experiencing is so severe that she expressed, “You can’t overcome it.” She also mentioned feeling frustrated when people inquire why she doesn’t exercise, emphasizing the physical limitations imposed by MS.

Nevertheless, Applegate is determined to speak openly and honestly about her struggles. She reflected on her experience with breast cancer in 2008, admitting that she wasn’t entirely truthful about her condition back then. She believes that being transparent about her health battles is essential, as it can help others facing similar challenges.

Despite the hardships she is facing, Applegate hasn’t lost her sense of humor. At a recent public appearance where she received a standing ovation, she humorously roasted the crowd for their enthusiastic response. The actress, who now uses a cane to aid her mobility, maintains a positive outlook on life despite her health struggles.

Like fellow actress Selma Blair, who has also been vocal about her battle with MS, Applegate is committed to using her platform to raise awareness about the disease. By sharing her story, she hopes to educate others about the realities of living with MS and advocate for better support and resources for those affected by the condition.

Applegate’s courage and resilience in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration to many, demonstrating that strength and humor can coexist even in the darkest of times. As she continues to navigate the challenges of living with MS, her openness and vulnerability will undoubtedly make a meaningful impact on those who are also fighting their own battles with the disease.
